Structural and Geotechnical Design of a Mountain-Top Observatory
Our project focuses on the structural and geotechnical design of a mountain-top observatory intended to house a high-precision telescope. The goal is to create a facility that ensures stability, durability, and optimal performance under the unique environmental conditions of a mountainous location. The design process integrates geotechnical analysis of the mountain soil and rock conditions to establish a reliable foundation, as well as structural engineering principles to resist environmental loads such as wind, seismic activity, and thermal variations. Special attention is given to minimizing vibrations and settlement, ensuring the telescope’s functionality for astronomical research. The final design harmonizes structural integrity with operational requirements, providing a robust and sustainable observatory for scientific advancement.
