The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Explores Research Collaboration with Kalba Municipality
Prof. Rami Al-Ruzouq, Chairman of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, participated in a visit to Kalba Municipality that opened promising opportunities for future collaboration between the University of Sharjah and Kalba Municipality in areas aligned with the UAE’s priorities in climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and smart green development.
Initial discussions highlighted several potential research directions, including:
- Smart vegetation mapping and green infrastructure monitoring using advanced remote sensing technologies.
- Satellite-based flood assessment and sediment mapping to support sustainable vegetation planning and climate resilience.
Both sides expressed strong interest in developing joint research proposals, field investigations, and knowledge exchange activities. These efforts aim to support the University’s strategic research goals while strengthening community engagement and collaboration with governmental entities.
