“Thoughts Signal to Words Translator” by Electrical Engineering Senior Students Win First Place at International AccessAbilities Expo 2025

The College of Engineering is proud to announce the remarkable achievement of Maitha Ahmed Alzarooni and her senior design team, whose project, “Thoughts Signal to Words Translator,” secured First Place in the prestigious competition held during the International AccessAbilities Expo 2025 — the largest event in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia dedicated to people of determination.

The innovative project, designed to translate brain signals into words and support individuals with speech impairments, was showcased at the Emirates Inventors Association pavilion. The event was held under the patronage and presence of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and was attended by Eng. Ahmed Majan, President of the Emirates Inventors Association.

In recognition of this outstanding accomplishment, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the University of Sharjah and to Prof. Abir Jafaar, the project supervisor, whose continuous guidance and mentorship played a pivotal role in the success of the team.

This achievement reflects the University’s unwavering commitment to fostering innovation and empowering students to develop impactful solutions that enhance the quality of life for individuals with special needs.
