International Workshop on Digital Discoveries in Architectural Heritage

Eslam Nofal, Assistant Professor of Architectural Engineering co-organized and participated in the international workshop “Digital Discoveries in Architectural Heritage: from 3D Mapping to Phygital Experiences” at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania (June 9–13, 2024). The workshop brought together 27 students from four Romanian universities to explore digital tools like 3D mapping, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) in architectural heritage preservation.

In collaboration with Alina Voinea, Assistant Professor of Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania  and Raffaella De Marco, MSCA Fellow Researcher, Collaborator at DAda Lab of University of Pavia, Italy. Eslam Nofal, Assistant Professor of Architectural Engineering co-designed a curriculum that combined technology and historical preservation. The event was part of an ongoing collaboration between UoS and Cluj-Napoca, following Dr. Voinea’s recent visit to the University of Sharjah (UoS).
