Bringing Heritage to Life: Insights from Avesta Group
On Thursday, February 13, 2025, the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Sharjah hosted "Bringing Heritage to Life", an engaging session with Ms. Odyssée Bouvyer, Head of Development and Partnerships at Avesta Group. The session explored heritage planning, management, and career opportunities through the case study of AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Ms. Bouvyer shared Avesta’s approach to heritage interpretation, visitor experience, sustainability, and strategic heritage activation. She also introduced internship and research opportunities at Avesta’s Paris headquarters, allowing students to engage in real-world heritage consultancy. Organized and moderated by Eslam Nofal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Architectural Engineering, the event attracted students from both programs: the Bachelor’s in Architectural Engineering and the Master’s in Conservation Management of Cultural Heritage, fostering discussions on the intersection of heritage, innovation, and professional development. This initiative reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to bridging academia with industry and global best practices in heritage conservation.
