The College of Computing and Informatics held an Orientation Session for new faculty members, delivered by Prof. Saad Harous, Vice Dean, to welcome new faculty and provide essential information to support their smooth integration into the college community. The session also introduced the faculty members to crucial processes, resources, and expectations within the college.
Topics covered during the orientation included peer review, appraisal and probation procedures, research grant applications, annual evaluations, and important tools and platforms such as FIS, TaskStream, and Banner. Faculty members also received guidance on student advising and teaching-related matters including examination protocols, Blackboard grade uploads, and attendance policies. In addition, the session addressed faculty participation in events and committees, promotion applications, and the resources available to support them in their roles.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing new faculty to seek clarification on various topics. This initiative fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, helping new faculty members successfully navigate the college’s academic and administrative aspects.
