Award to Dr. Iman Ibrahim from the College of Fine Arts & Design

H.E Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Belhaif AlNuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, rewarded Dr. Iman Ibrahim from the College of Fine Arts & Design for her role as the Head of the Scientific Committee for the 3rd Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development. Moreover, Dr. Iman received the Sharjah Award for Excellence in Education in the category of Distinguished Project: “Sustainable Courtyard” prepared by the Interior Architecture students in collaboration with Bee’ah Waste Management. Bee’ah supported the project with all waste materials that students used creatively for the College of Fine Arts & Design outdoor courtyards furniture pieces to be used by all students raising the awareness of sustainability, and working as one of the Creative Initiatives the Sustainable Circle practices.

The research paper is a research project conducted by the OpenUAE Research & Development Group for Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC).

University of Sharjah is a Community Partner for TIP

University of Sharjah has recently joined as a Community Partner for Technology Innovation Pioneers (TIP), which is an initiative by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Department of Economic Development (DED) in Abu Dhabi. TIP aims to make the UAE a world-class hub for innovation by attracting the most talented experts from across the world. The partnership agreement was signed by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies. In September 2019, a joint lecture was given to the UoS students and faculty by Mr. Nader Hariz, Director of Business Development at TIP Program, and Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy, Head of Technology Transfer Office at the University. The TIP Program brings new exciting challenges that add value to the UAE and the global innovation ecosystem, and invites inventors and entrepreneurs to provide technologically innovative solutions to solve the current global challenges in sectors such as EnergyTech, EnviroTech, and Healthcare.

Second Place in Physical Sciences according to the Times 2020 Subject Ranking

According to the latest ranking release published by the Times Higher Education (THE), the University of Sharjah has realized another global achievement by obtaining the Second Place in the subjects of Physical Sciences according to the Times 2020 Subject Ranking. The Times assessment indicators in the field of physical sciences reflect the universities’ academic performance and research achievements and impacts in the subjects of mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, geology, environmental sciences, earth, and marine sciences. It is worth mentioning that, with this achievement, the University of Sharjah has moved up to the 9th place in the Arab region and to the 500 places globally in this subject.
