Within the Ramadan Program 1443 A.H
Program Title: Scientific symposium discusses the role of astronomy and Sharia in investigating the crescent of the month of Ramadan.
The College of Sharia and Islamic Studies opened its Ramadan program on Thursday, March 31, 2022, with a scientific symposium entitled: "The Crescent of Ramadan between Sharia and Astronomy",
The seminar was chaired by Dr. Ahmed Al-Kubaisi, Head of the Department of Foundations of Religion, and It was spoken by both Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sumeran, Acting Dean, Professor of Jurisprudence and its Foundations, and Prof. Mashhour Ahmed Salameh Al-Wardat, Professor of Astrophysics, and the symposium was full covered in sign language by Ms. Lubna Almughayarah.
The symposium, which was held via the virtual zoom platform, discussed determining the sighting of the crescent based on the criterions of jurisprudential and astronomical opinions, and through clear and innovative criteria set by Islamic Sharia scholars, and experts in astronomy and space sciences.
