The university offers students and faculty in all divisions facilities and services that are essential for the educational process. These facilities are:
- Research halls, library
- Audiovisual labs (for recitation)
- Computer labs
- The Research Hall and the Library
Besides the university's two libraries, the College of Sharia and Islamic studies has two separate libraries, one on men's campus and another on the women's campus. Each library contains a large collection of references such as books, periodicals, translations, as well as audiovisual material. The resources are used for research in all the majors offered by the college. All libraries are open from 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.
The main mission of the library is to support the learning process and to meet the academic needs of the college, students and faculty. It also facilitates scientific research and contains special collections of references.
The library currently contains over 1800 registered titles on the men's campus, and over 2000 titles on the women's campus. There are books on jurisprudence, history, Quranic interpretations, Quranic studies, Hadith, Hadith studies, biographies, ethics, etc…Outstanding senior projects are regularly added to the libraries' collections, thus giving all students the chance to benefit from this research while simultaneously encouraging graduating students.
The library is also an essential element in the learning process as it is used as a place for research and "Takhreej" (investigating or researching a Hadith), a compulsory course in the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies. The professor teaching this course uses the library as a lecture hall; it is also the place where practical applications and tests of this course are given. Professors arrange library visits which allow students to read books on jurisprudence, interpretation of Quran, Hadith, and others, each according to his/her specialization and the requirements of the courses they are taking.
Moreover, professors in both departments in the college (Department of Theology and Department of Jurisprudence) provide the library with their own books and scientific research studies. The "Al-Kitab and Al-Sunna" organization within the college also offers the library copies of its research studies and books.
The Library committee prepares annual reports about the performance and the requirements of the library. Recommendations are made regularly in order to guarantee that the library collections are always updated, and that the needs of the students are met. The library resources facilitate and support scientific research. The library committee regularly visits book exhibitions and uses a special allocated budget to enrich the library with new items and add new required books. Two copies of each book can be found: one in the library on the men's campus and another in that on the women's campus.
- Audiovisual lab (Recitation Lab)
There are two recitation labs in the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, one on the men's and another on the women's campus. The idea behind this lab is to facilitate the communication among students as well as between students and their professors. All audiovisual labs are fully equipped.
The College of Sharia and Islamic Studies has two computer labs for sharia and law students (one on the men's and another on the women's campus). Each computer lab is fully equipped with 25 computers, printers, and other necessary equipment.
Students use the computer lab facilities to do research and work on their projects. They use University of Sharjah website to access Blackboard, use My UDC which is their course registration system, check their e-mail, and surf the Internet.
The college offers students a variety of relevant programs such as "Jawame' Al-Kelm" and "Al-Jame' Al-Kabeer" programs which are installed on all the computers in the lab and are used by BA and MA students. The computer lab also hosts workshops for faculty members, such as the Blackboard training workshop.
The Deanship of Student Affairs coordinates with the college during the student council elections, which take place in the computer lab through the university website.
Many faculty members give lectures in the computer labs, especially to train students to use Blackboard, which is the system used for communication between professors and their students. Blackboard is used for course documents, lecture notes, grades for each student individually, etc… Blackboard is updated each semester based on students' and professors' courses.
