I would like to welcome you to the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah where faculty, students, and staff work together across education, research, and service towards environmental health protection and new paths for sustainable development.
Since its launch in 2002, the Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Health integrates diverse tenets of environmental health in a pursuit to acquire, disseminate, and apply knowledge critical to understanding and mitigating the impacts of the natural, built, and social environments on human health.
The offered Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health is a four-year program (134 credits), accredited by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The curriculum emphasizes the evaluation and control of major and contemporary environmental health issues in such fields as water supply and sanitation, waste management, occupational health, food hygiene, vector control, air and marine pollution, sustainable development, among others.
The department is also looking forward to launch its graduate program (Master of Science in Environmental Health) in the very near future to prepare specialized Environmental Health professionals equipped with profound knowledge as well as professional and research skills to work towards creating health-supportive and sustainable environments in line with UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda.
With great pleasure, I invite you to explore our department, meet my faculty colleagues and our dedicated students and alumni, and look forward to having our paths join together.
