When I was looking to apply to a university after graduating high school, I encountered the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics degree at the University of Sharjah. Applying to that program was the best decision I have ever made. This degree taught me beyond the basic knowledge I needed in the nutrition field. It’s a comprehensive undergraduate degree that includes all the different specialties in the dietetic field. You graduate with knowledge in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, food science, food processing, food safety, diet planning, and so much more. The inclusivity of this degree is greatly beneficial to the future in a way that you are not limited to one path but instead, you learn about it all. The department of nutrition is truly outstanding. Every member of this department inspired me to be a better version of myself. They all believed in my skills and my future. They shared their wise knowledge and experience in the field from which we learned a lot from. I applied to this degree liking nutrition and graduated loving it!
At first, I felt like any other freshman, anxious about entering the University’s atmosphere, yet the anxiety soon faded away and I adapted quickly. I will never forget my colleagues and professors, whom I always thought of as my family. When I reflect on being a UOS student, I conclude that the experience enabled me to communicate better, learn more and grow stronger, not just academically. I had the chance to be a Member of the Clinical Nutrition Society which added a great experience to my resume. I appreciate all of the faculty and staff members at the CN&D Department who have taken the time and made the effort to teach me and help me develop my skills. It is time to say goodbye UOS, thanks a million for all the memories that meant the world to me, and for all the academic and life lessons you taught me throughout the past years..
I would recommend the Bachelors program in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition at the University of Sharjah to anyone who has a passion for food sciences and using nutrition to make people’s lives better. The program equips students with the essential skills and distinctive knowledge to work as a Clinical Dietician, Community Nutritionist or in the field of Food Sciences and Management. What makes this program so unique is, without doubt, the eminent faculty. Each professor teaches their particular course with such incredible passion and professionalism, it becomes ingrained in you too. Believe me, your perspectives on how food affects you and your community will change! They are amicable, supportive and tremendously inspirational. Theory is well supplemented with practical training – a hallmark of this program. The clinical training gave me a platform to jumpstart on my professional training. Nutrition events targeted towards the public taught me to give back to the community in new, innovative ways. At the end of the program, you are given the exceptional opportunity to conduct your own research under supervisors. This to me, was the ideal approach to apply what I learnt in the previous years while creating new knowledge for the future. I can confidently say that pursuing a graduation from University of Sharjah in the CND program has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I will carry the valuable lessons learnt for the rest of my life. I am indebted to my professors and tutors for this empowering experience at UoS.
My journey at the university has been an incredible one , it showed me who I am and enhanced me with experiences both knowledge wise and personality wise. I have been passionate for nutrition before I join the major at this university and after I did , I truly don’t regret this choice at all . We’ve encountered many situations , different people , ups and downs but every day that came along brought with it a variety of exposures that made us move forward . I’m glad I had the chance to take part in many extracurricular work as well as academic activities which enabled me to work hard for studies and have part in other activities as well . The continuous support from our professors and the positive environment pushed me to the best and made who I am. I am glad to say I have graduated from this department with honors, wasn’t an easy journey but definitely worth it!
