Through its member organizations the EFRS represents more than 100,000 radiographers and 8000 radiography students across Europe. "The role of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies is to represent, promote and develop the profession of radiography in Europe, within the whole range of medical imaging, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy and moreover everything that is directly or indirectly related or beneficial to this role, everything in the broadest meaning". It is a well-known fact that EFRS is one of the greatest Radiographer organizations in the world. They have various scientific and professional activities with their extensive sources. In this regard, UoS MDI department is one of the first academic institutions of EFRS Educational Wings program outside of Europe.

The university, which has already started active work with EFRS, has recently sent a large Covid-19 text to International Day of Radiology (IDOR2020) and shared its experiences with European countries. In addition, MDI staff members actively participate in webinars. Future activities are already in planning for greater involvement of the MDI students not only as attendees but also as active participants.

Chairperson's Comment

The chairperson of the Department of Medical Diagnostic Imaging (MDI), Professor Bashar Afif Issa Al-Rawi, emphasized the importance of such membership on the international level. The department is the first to be accepted from outside Europe and it affirms that the educational outcomes achieved by the University of Sharjah are of the same academic level to those of European Universities. This membership will offer our students increased opportunities to share their learning experience with other colleagues abroad. Furthermore, it will facilitate a more active collaboration between professors in the areas of learning and research.

It is worth mentioning that the department has been recently accredited by the Royal College of Radiographers in the England, which is another major achievement in terms of international recognition to the program it offers. It comes as clear evidence of the active role played by department staff in international organizations and the strength of academic relations with other colleagues in universities abroad.
