The Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics department in collaboration with Al Wafaa School for people of determination (Sharjah City Humanitarian Services), organized a meeting on 15th January. The aim of the meeting was to launch research for weight management of obese intellectual impairment children.
Prof. Reyad Shaker -chairman of department- briefed the audience (parents and school staff) on the collaborative project, introduced the department team involved, and reinforced their commitment to the success of the study.
Dr. MoezAlIslam Fares -associate professor in the department- presented a lecture about the importance of obesity management and the adverse health consequences associated with it for this population.
Ms. Mona Hashem –lecturer and project principal investigator- emphasized the importance of the home environment for the successful implementation of the project and elaborated on the ethical consideration for conducting the study.
The parents showed genuine interest and enthusiasm in the project with the session featuring many questions and discussions with the presenters.
