In cooperation with Sajaya Youth Club in Sharjah, a group of senior students from the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics department implemented a month-long program titled "Challenge Accepted!" Adolescent girls were targeted in the program which to educate the girls on the importance of a healthy diet, fitness, and the correct approach to a long-term lifestyle modification.
Through a questionnaire, the seniors were able to assess the current lifestyle and eating habits of the adolescents as well as evaluate their readiness to change. Accordingly, they designed a diet plan tailored to suit every subject's personal nutrient and energy needs relative to their body weight and physical activity. The seniors also gave education sessions on portions and serving sizes and simple techniques of estimating portion needs.
