Dean's Welcome

The College of Health Science (CHS) was inaugurated in 1998, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah. After two decades, the College became the third largest at the University of Sharjah with close to 2000 students and is the leading College of Health Sciences in the UAE (as per the 2022 Times Higher Education ranking). The College is also distinguished by its research productivity and in community engagement programs.

The CHS was established to educate highly skilled health workers in different specializations to fulfill the needs of the healthcare market in the UAE and the region. The CHS currently offers seven accredited undergraduate programs:

1.  B.Sc. in Nursing (Nsg)

2.  B.Sc. in Physiotherapy (PT)

3.  B.Sc. in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (CN&D).

4.  B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS)

5.  B.Sc. in Medical Diagnostic Imaging (MDI)

6.  B.Sc. in Environmental Health Sciences (EHS)

7.  B.Sc. in Health Services Administration (HSA)

 

The CHS also offers four accredited graduate-level Programs:

1.  M.Sc. in Medical Lab Sciences

2.  M.Sc. in Environmental Health

3.  M.Sc. in Adult Critical Care Nursing

4.  M.Sc. in Physiotherapy


The college utilizes state-of-the-art educational facilities and employs innovative pedagogies to enable students to gain a healthy combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a supportive learning environment conducive to success upon graduation. The clinical training of students takes place at some of the best hospitals and healthcare facilities in the UAE. The CHS also focuses on refining the research skills of students by offering them the opportunity to work on scientific research either with their professors on faculty research programs or through their work on graduation research projects. This provides them with the required knowledge and skills to embark on a journey of development and innovation in their future careers.

The future plans of the College includes the expansion of Masters programs by adding a M.Sc. program in Medical Imaging, a M.Sc. in Applied Nutrition and a Master of Public Health Program. The College also plans to launch its first PhD level program within the next three years.

We believe in the central role played by health sciences professionals and work to equip our graduates with the competencies and leadership skills required to serve, with dedication and excellence, the individuals and communities in the UAE, the GCC region, and beyond.
