Using Empathy and User-centered Research Pedagogy to Promote Innovative Design Solutions.

The presentation focuses on user-centered approaches in student lead projects. Contemporary design practices follow a robust development process of research, conceptualization and outcome development. Students of the Graphic Design and Multimedia program at the College of Fine Arts and Design engage empathic, user-centric design in developing effective and relevant real-world outcomes. The presentation outlines pedagogical paradigm for fostering innovative thinking through design. Additionally, select students will present completed senior projects which demonstrate empathic, user-centered research and development.
