  • Ibrahim I. El-Sharkawy obtained his Ph.D. degree specializing in Energy and Environmental Engineering from Kyushu University, Japan. He was awarded a world-class postdoctoral fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). Prof. El-Sharkawy worked in different international institutes such as National University of Singapore, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and Kyushu University. He also conducted academic visits to the University of Warwick, UK and National University of Malaysia. His research interests include solar cooling systems, solar-powered multigeneration systems, water harvesting from atmospheric air, thermal energy storage using adsorption technology and other techniques, desalination, and hybrid sorption-vapor compression refrigeration systems. To date, Prof. El-Sharkawy published more than 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals and proceedings and co-authored four book chapters. Prof. El-Sharkawy won several prestigious awards such as Award of Excellence from the First Class of his Excellency the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, State Encouragement Award in Engineering Sciences, Mansoura University Encouragement Award. He also listed among the top 2% of the world’s most cited scientists, 2019, according to Stanford University, USA.
