Chair's Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management.

One of the largest departments in the College of Engineering and one of the fastest growing at the University of Sharjah. It was established in 2006 and offers a BSc program in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management in addition to an MSc program in Engineering Management. Moreover, the department contributes heavily to offering and managing the PhD program in Engineering Management that is housed in the College of Engineering.

The BSc and MSc programs are designed to meet the UAE and regional needs with a global vision and standards. They prepare students for careers and for leadership roles in different types of industries including manufacturing and services, in both the public and private sectors. The BSc program is the first in the region to be accredited by ABET based on two criteria: Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. Moreover, the BSc, the MSc and the PhD programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education. We are proud that many of our BSc graduates are employed in renowned organizations such as ADCO, Emirates Group, Dubai International Airport, Dubal, Ducab, NPCC, DU, IBM, Unilever, Sharjah Municipality, RTA, Dubai Municipality, NAFFCO, DEWA, SEWA, etc. Moreover, our MSc students and graduates work and some of them hold leadership roles in many of these and other organizations.

Currently, the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management has around 330 students enrolled in the BSc program, 270 students in the MSc program, and 100 students in the PhD program. The department counts 19 outstanding faculty members who conduct research in diverse areas of industrial engineering and engineering management including supply chain management, quality management, maintenance management, project management, applied optimization, ergonomics, industrial safety, manufacturing systems and healthcare. The department also has part-time faculty members and is supported by a secretary, three lab engineers, and graduate teaching assistants. Some of the department faculty members are affiliated to the Sustainable Engineering Asset Management (SEAM) research group.
