Chair's Welcome

Since its establishment in 1997, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE Department) has become a regional leader in Civil Engineering education. The CEE Department strives to remain at the forefront of modern Civil Engineering education in the City of Sharjah, the cultural capital of the Arab world. To balance the current and emerging needs of the society, the CEE Department offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in Civil Engineering that are recognized both locally and internationally. The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree is 135-credit program and is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org, and by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree is a 33-credit program with a strong emphasis on research related to local and regional need.
 
Civil Engineers work as structural engineers, transportation and highway engineers, geotechnical engineers, water resources engineers, environmental engineers, project leaders, managers and/or supervisors in their offices or in the field. They have opportunities to participate in the creative design of urban infrastructure, buildings, skyscrapers, airports, bridges, dams, highways, tunnels, irrigation and water supply systems, and environmental protection systems.
 
We provide our graduates with top-quality education in Civil Engineering and prepare them to practice their professions competently to meet the ever-changing needs of the country and the region as well. The CEE Department employs highly-qualified professors educated in top-class world universities. Our laboratories are among the best in the region serving the various needs of Civil Engineering disciplines. In addition, the CEE Department has the latest computing facilities, extensive library resources, and all of the necessary facilities that are required to meet the needs of modern Civil Engineering.
