Dr.Abdelsalam Aldawoud Academic RankAssistant Professor

Specialization:

  • Ph.D. in Architecture, Illinois Institute of Technology, USA

Research Interests:

  • My research interest focuses primarily on the investigation of cause-effect-relationships between buildings and the surrounding environment. Specifically, I am interested in low energy environmentally friendly designs, covering a broad range of subject areas, including energy performance, thermal comfort, ventilation, building materials, daylight, climate change, and design strategies. My research effort is directed towards the general aim of developing energy-effective solutions, design guidelines, and decision support tools to improve the buildings designs and enhance the quality and the performance of buildings.

My teaching philosophy stems from my personal conviction that teaching at an academy of higher education is an honor, a privilege and, above all else, a great responsibility. My primary goal as an educator is to help students develop their creativity. Creative thinking is the foundation for conscientious architectural and design approach which offers a harmonious relationship with the environment and complies with the principles of social, economic, and ecological sustainability. Architectural design provides the foundation for a strong understanding of how humans interact with and respond to their environments. This understanding can, and should be, used to benefit society in any way possible.
