Chair's Welcome

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you on behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Sharjah. The Department of Architectural Engineering, part of the College of Engineering, is one of the largest architectural engineering departments in the United Arab Emirates delivering a five-year degree program, Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. Our program is designed around the three cross-cutting themes of sustainability, digital technologies and virtualization, and globalization.

By studying this program, students will combine the creativity and flair of architectural, urban and building design with the technical knowledge and skills in building technology, energy systems and environmental engineering. It, therefore, equips our students with a wide range of skills and abilities with an interdisciplinary attitude and appetite to solve real world problems. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), http://www.abet.org. ABET accreditation provides assurance for our graduates that this program not only meets the quality standards of the profession, but also helps to prepare them for a successful and rewarding career.

We are one of the most creative, innovative and diverse departments within the University of Sharjah, attracting students from around the Gulf Countries, Middle East, Africa and Asia seeking a high-quality and international education. The Department of Architectural Engineering is unique in the diversity because of the diverse academic and professional backgrounds of its faculty staff and academics.

We pride ourselves on our close working relationships with government bodies, the community, the industry and professional institutions as well as international partners across the globe. The Department of Architectural Engineering is committed to instilling a global vision coupled with an understanding of a range of different geographical and local cultural settings in our students.  We strive to work collaboratively with all our local, regional and international partners to develop the enquiring and creative minds necessary for the leadership of tomorrow's local and global built environments.
