Chair's Welcome

It is with great pleasure we welcome you on behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Sharjah. The Department of Architectural Engineering, based within the College of Engineering, is one of the largest architectural engineering departments in the United Arab Emirates delivering a five-year degree program, Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering (B.Sc.). Our program is designed around three cross-cutting themes of sustainability; digital technologies and virtualization; and globalization.

By studying this program, students will combine the creativity and flair of architectural, urban and building design with the needed technical knowledge and skills in building technology, energy systems and environmental engineering. It, therefore, equips our students with a wide range of skills and abilities with an interdisciplinary attitude and appetite to solve real world problems. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), http://www.abet.org. ABET accreditation provides assurance for our graduates, not only to meet the quality standards of the profession, but also to help successfully prepare them for a successful and rewarding career.

We are one of the most creative, innovative and diverse departments within the University of Sharjah, attracting students, seeking a high-quality and international education, from around the Gulf Countries, Middle East, Africa and Asia. The Department of Architectural Engineering is unique for the diversity of its faculty staff and academics who come from a wide range of backgrounds across academia and professional practice, worldwide.

We pride ourselves in our close working relationships with government bodies, community, industry and professional institutions as well as scattered international partners across the globe. The Department of Architectural Engineering is committed to instilling within our students a global vision coupled with an understanding of a range of different geographical and local cultural settings.  We strive to work collaboratively with all our local, regional and international partners to develop the enquiring and creative minds which are necessary for the leadership of tomorrow's local and global built environments.
