It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Sharjah. The department offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering, which is one of the leading architectural departments in the region. Our undergraduate program is a five-year degree program accredited by
ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) and the Ministry of Education. Our program is designed around several cross-cutting themes of architectural design, structural design, building construction, sustainability, digital technologies, and virtualization. The program focuses on systemizing architecture,
emphasizing the integration of various systems within architectural design and
construction processes. Furthermore, our program also offers a master of science in the Conservation Management of Cultural Heritage offered in collaboration with the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).
The Department of Architectural Engineering has an excellent faculty and staff who are eager to assist students in exploring more about their talents, creativity, and career. The department is unique in its diversity due to its diverse academic and professional faculty and staff. The AE team, who graduated from top-ranked universities with highly qualified credentials, is keen to provide the students with the latest in education and practice to prepare them for a successful future career in the architectural engineering business.
Our courses afford the student to attain competence in architectural design, urban planning and design, structural design, building construction, and sustainable design with the technical knowledge and skills in building technology and pathology, energy systems, lighting design, and environmental engineering. The technical courses provide architectural engineering students the skills to work in architecture firms, consulting engineering offices, general contracting offices, lighting design firms, sustainability offices, and government offices.
The department has been collaborating with several governmental and international agencies, industries, and professional institutions since its establishment in 2004, which helped it achieve an excellent position of popularity among the architectural engineering departments in the UAE, with an undergraduate enrollment of around 500 students. I encourage those students interested in studying architectural engineering to join our AE family, the house of creativity for future architectural engineers' careers.
