Mobile Dental Clinic

The Mobile Dental Clinic (MDC) aims to provide oral care services to those who have difficulty accessing conventional dental clinics. The three main purposes of the Mobile Dental Clinic at the University of Sharjah are:
  1. Dental Service
  2. Dental Education
  3. Research

To provide oral care services to those who have difficulty accessing conventional dental clinics.

Our mission is to improve oral health and quality of life of the elderly and those most in need, in urban and rural areas of Sharjah, by bringing mobile dental care to them.

  • Professional dental cleaning
  • Multiple fillings
  • Multiple extractions (tooth removal - excluding surgical extraction)
  • Emergency dental care to treat issues like dental pain or cavities, such as Endodontics (pulp removal) and referrals

MDC brings quality healthcare services closer to home at seven different locations across the Emirate of Sharjah (Khorfakkan, Kalba, Dibba Al-Hisn, Al Madam, Al Dhaid, Al Hamriyah, and Nursing Home-Muwaileh).

During the academic year, dental services are initiated to improve the oral health status of the Elderly Population in the Emirate of Sharjah. With our valued resource of one full-time clinical staff along with a team of 60 graduates (interns) supervised by faculty and three auxiliary staff three times a week, we were able to serve elderly patients.

As a full dental facility, with three fully-equipped dental units, a digital X-ray facility, and a wheelchair carrier lift, the Mobile Dental Clinic - University of Sharjah was in operation since the beginning of the academic year 2016 – 2017, ensuring ongoing care to the community of Emirate of Sharjah.
The Mobile Dental Clinic clinical operation meets the stringent Infection Prevention and Control standards and undergoes regular maintenance to ensure patient safety.

Community Outreach
Through the platform of Mobile Dental Clinic, we initiated a robust community outreach program, offering free preventive and restorative care that addresses the needs of the community.
The College of Dental Medicine provides community service that promotes optimal oral health and enhances the quality of life.
Applying the University of Sharjah's mission of community service, the College of Dental Medicine serves as a role model for future dentists through a variety of outreach programs that provides dental care and preventive education to underserved populations.
Our College provides free high-quality dental care to patients in the Sharjah Community and surrounding areas who otherwise cannot afford or access needed dental treatments.

School Oral Health Program
For the last eight years, the College provided comprehensive oral health services for approximately 100 children every year. This School Oral Health Program includes classroom education, dental screenings, preventive dental care, such as sealant and fluoride varnish applications, as well as restorative dental care for elementary school children in Sharjah.

Special Need Dentistry
Our commitment to the community includes providing dental health care to special needs patients, who may find it difficult to receive appropriate dental care in private clinics. Our undergraduate students and interns receive adequate hands-on supervised experience and training in the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective dental treatment to special needs patients. Our goal is to graduate students who are capable and prepared to provide dental care for this segment of the community, thus increasing the number of dentists who can provide quality oral health care for special needs patients.
