Long, but short and sweet. Five words that summarize my Bachelor of Dental Surgery journey. Throughout all my six years in a place that I could now call my home, everyday posed a form of challenge that helped in shaping me into the person I am today, in addition to helping me build my skills gradually, but surely. Starting with the first three pre-clinical years, there was ample knowledge to be absorbed, as everything seemed to be unaccustomed. However, as I stepped into my last two clinical years, applying and correlating my theoretical and pre-clinical skills into my daily practice really helped me in making the right judgement of cases. A huge factor of why my journey was memorable and enjoyable was the fact that I got to work with amazing specialists and mentors who were always keen on making sure their students receive the right guidance, thus framing young, professional, and skillful dentists. With every new academic year, there was a novel mode of learning when it came to all the different fields of dentistry which allowed us, upcoming dentists, to further explore our ambitions and passions. My dynamic journey, through all its ups and downs has taught me so much, but the most important lesson I learned is that when you water your seed, it grows into a plant. Ambition, hard work, trial and error is what my BDS journey required, so trust the process but most importantly, make it enjoyable.

If I were to start somewhere, I would begin by calling the University of Sharjah; my home, and my colleagues and prestigious faculty; my family. In my 6 years of undergraduate studies in the field of Dentistry, the university has helped me climb the ladder towards professional success and development by its strong focus on learning outcomes and most updated knowledge using top-notch facilities and resources. However, my learning experience wasn’t merely emphasized on academics. I was instilled with discipline, responsibility, confidence, character, and sense of achievement to be able to take on the challenges thrown at me by the real world. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery, I enrolled in the Internship program at the UDHS. I can’t begin to emphasize on how much this year has helped me enhance my skills, develop my knowledge, gain more experience, and learn from the great doctors mentoring us. Overall my journey in the University of Sharjah has been the most rewarding academic experience and I am honored to be sticking around for another 3 years to complete my Postgraduate Studies.

Studying six years at the College of Dental Medicine might be a long life, which I decided to make it different. Since when I was student, I had the interest of being an active member in the college life, so I had been elected to be the head of media committee in the Pulse of Life Society of the medical campus in the University of Sharjah UOS in 2010. Later, in 2011 I had been elected again to be the vice president of the Dental Students Society. In 2011-2012, I got the honor to participate in the arrangement for the inauguration of the biggest dental hospital in the Middle East, The University Dental Hospital- Sharjah UDHS. It was a great chance to put my fingerprint in my second home! When I became BDS 4 student, the faculty members at the college of dental medicine were encouraging us to be young members in the scientific research world. Hence, we did two scientific researches in 2012 and 2013 in Forensic Odontology and Prosthodontics, where both won the 2nd place in two international conferences besides our participation in poster competition at Dubai AEEDC conference. Finally, I graduated in 2013, but it was never the time of leaving my second home! I decided to continue enriching myself more from my doctors' knowledge and clinical skills by joining the internship program at UOS and UDHS. Currently, I am a licensed general dental practitioner from the ministry of health who decided to continue my education as a resident dentist at UDHS.

" It was always a dream for me to become a health care provider to be able to address human being needs to some extent". Having being raised in a family with medical background, I was clearly influenced towards choosing a future career in the medical field, which eventually led me to select dental surgery as my goal. I could achieve my aim by studying at University of Sharjah, College of Dental Medicine where I had the chance to learn in the best way from the best people at one of the most beautiful University campus in the world. I received the Bachelor of Dental Surgery with honors in 2011. Afterward I joined the internship program at UOS during which I had a great experience of working at University Hospital Dental Sharjah that has an excellent facilities. During my trainee I could add lots of information to my knowledge by seeing a large number of patients and managing complex clinical cases. My present appointment at the University is in the capacity of a full time clinical tutor. The best thing that I learnt by studying specifically at UOS is how to create a smooth and comfortable friendly, yet professional, environment as a dentist and how to properly cooperate with other parties of dental team in order to be able to provide the best treatment to our patients.

I am a proud graduate from the College of Dental Medicine – University of Sharjah, Class of 2014. My class and I were lucky enough to be one of the first groups of dental students to start our clinical portion of the dental curriculum practicing at UDHS. Having the opportunity to train in an educational facility with such high standards of care and modern equipment helped us achieve our full potential. UDHS is a dental hospital that offers low-cost dental treatment to members of the community, and being a part of the care-providing team, gave us as students a sense of how dentistry as a profession can have a positive impact on society. All dental procedures performed by dental students are supervised by specialists and experienced general practitioners, leading to safe treatment of high quality for clients, and also giving students a constructive hands-on learning experience. My training at UDHS left me confident to pursue my career as a clinician, and also prepared me for continuing my education at top schools around the world. The contemporary equipment used at UDHS allowed me to be competent and up to date with the rapidly advancing technology in the dental world. UDHS is growing year after year into the region's leading educational dental hospital.
