Long, but short and sweet. Five words that summarize my Bachelor of Dental Surgery journey. Throughout all my six years in a place that I could now call my home, everyday posed a form of challenge that helped in shaping me into the person I am today, in addition to helping me build my skills gradually, but surely. Starting with the first three pre-clinical years, there was ample knowledge to be absorbed, as everything seemed to be unaccustomed. However, as I stepped into my last two clinical years, applying and correlating my theoretical and pre-clinical skills into my daily practice really helped me in making the right judgement of cases. A huge factor of why my journey was memorable and enjoyable was the fact that I got to work with amazing specialists and mentors who were always keen on making sure their students receive the right guidance, thus framing young, professional, and skillful dentists. With every new academic year, there was a novel mode of learning when it came to all the different fields of dentistry which allowed us, upcoming dentists, to further explore our ambitions and passions.
My dynamic journey, through all its ups and downs has taught me so much, but the most important lesson I learned is that when you water your seed, it grows into a plant. Ambition, hard work, trial and error is what my BDS journey required, so trust the process but most importantly, make it enjoyable.
