From Freshman to Graduate: How my University Experience Shaped me as a Person
“These are going to be the best four years of your life”. A sentence a person often hears as they enter a university. However, the first thoughts that come to mind right after are all the parties, the gatherings, the coffee breaks, lunch times, trips, and fun activities. Most of us are quick to forget that the experience with its challenges and opportunities is what makes it the best.
The University of Sharjah has provided me with a great journey, as I have undergone numerous times of self-reflection and personal growth. On my first day, I stepped in not knowing what the future held for me. Yet, the university was quick to teach me that staying in my comfort zone will always be the number one barrier between me and my ride to success. Therefore, I made it a point to invest in chances, commit to hard work, and value perseverance.
Throughout all my projects, exams, and lectures, I have developed a deeper understanding in the field of business and a newfound respect for all the entrepreneurs. Nonetheless, my university has also taught me how to manage my time, and practice proactive thinking. It taught me the importance of team spirit, the efficiency of prioritizing my responsibilities, and how to utilize all the opportunities that life randomly threw in front of me.
I have become stronger and wiser, more confident, and resilient, but most importantly I am grateful with how I have grown and the character I have worked so hard to build. I have met people who have been nothing but supportive and people that challenged my perspective.
As I look back to the days I spent on campus and online, I realize how much I have changed, hopefully to a better version of myself. The challenges and achievements I have faced helped me become one step closer to the seven-year-old Razan’s hero. I am proud to have earned my degree in such a prestigious university and excited for what the future holds.
