Dr. Atia Hussain has international experience of 11 years working in three regions including Europe, Asia and Middle East. She has 4 years’ experience of working in academics and around 7 years in Consulting. Before joining the University of Sharjah, she was working as Global Trade Manager at EY consulting firm Dubai. She has led and managed more than 300 projects in this region to serve multinational and local companies in the field of taxation.
Dr. Atia Hussain is part of the Department of Accounting at the University of Sharjah. She is delivering lectures to the undergraduate and graduate students in the area of Internal Audit, Taxation and Zakat, Advanced Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting and Regulations. She will be heading the chair of Students Affairs, Advising and Training committee. As part of this committee, she aims to invite multiple guest speakers from the industry/consulting firms at the University. This will help the department and University students to proactively grasp the practical aspects and challenges faced by the industry experts in specific areas including but not limited to accounting, auditing and taxation. Also, Dr. Hussain envisages to create and liaison a bridge between academics and industry by utilizing and maximizing the strengths of our students for the potential internship and employment opportunities in the industry/consulting.
