Dr. Sharma has been responsible for raising over $60 m for the naming of the school in 2015, Eight new chaired professorships, the doubling of the business school building 100% privately funded by alumni, a new Sustainable Innovation MBA Program – ranked #1 in the US 3 years in a row by Princeton Review and top 10 globally by Corporate Knights, a major increase in scholarships, the creation of a student success center with a major increase in career support and placement, and, a complete revamp of the undergraduate curriculum as a matrix of concentrations and themes that has led to a 23% improvement in selectivity, higher academic quality and increasing enrollments.
Prior to UVM, he was the Dean of the John Molson School of Business (JMSB), Montreal and the Canada Research Chair in Organizational Sustainability. Prior to that he was a Professor of Strategy at Wilfrid Laurier University and the founding Director of the CMA Centre for Responsible Organizations, an interdisciplinary center focusing on research and practice in the areas of organizational sustainability, CSR and corporate governance.
He has over 16 years of senior management experience with international corporations. He is the Vice-Chancellor of the International Academy of Management—a Global think tank of invited thought leaders and business leaders, serves on the Board of the Global Responsible Leadership Initiative, on the Advisory Board of the ISCTE Business School, Lisbon-Portugal, amongst other Boards.
A Fulbright scholar, he is a pioneer in corporate sustainability research with 9 books and over 100 articles in top tier academic journals.
