As a teacher, I strongly believe that learning needs to be student-centered and that students should be equal partners in the learning process. One of my ultimate objectives in teaching is to facilitate learning by helping my students to gain necessary skills to take control and become active participants in their own learning. I believe that teaching is the most significant role in a community, where we (teachers) healthily contribute in educating the generations to function knowledgeably in a society where rapid technological advances constantly pose new questions and ethical challenges. To achieve my objectives as an effective teacher, I let students to know that my role in the teaching/seminar hall is to be a facilitator, not a provider of information. I intend to create multiple discussion questions during my lecture session in order to engage my students and to stimulate motivation. I always provide detailed descriptions of writing assignments and I provide samples so that they are able to see what a good finished product should look like. Further, I share my analysis with the class as we end each module. Being a teacher, I also believe in fostering critical thinking skills to facilitate the acquisition of lifelong learning skills, to guide students in developing evidence-based problem-solving strategies and to prepare students to develop critical writing skills to get them prepared for post-grad studies/researches.
