Prof.Iman Saad Ahmed Vice Dean Academic RankProfessor

Specialization:

  • Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics.

Research Interests:

  • My research interest takes three basic thrusts within the areas of biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, and drug targeting. Motivated by real applications, my research evolved since then to include the use of nanotechnology in the development of innovative drug delivery systems that alter the PK/PD response of different classes of drugs and reduce their systemic side effects. More recently my research evolved to include modeling-based drug development using PK/PD models to improve drug efficacy, patient’s compliance and reduce drug toxicity.

One of my main objectives of being a teacher is to foster and create an environment that allows my students to show their potential and interest in what they learn. Since learning is many times defined as a change of attitude, I make sure to have credibility to act as role model. Respecting different cultures while seeking to instill values reflecting the vision of the university is also one of my main objectives as a teacher. I am an advocate of active learning by using a variety of methods that contributes to creating a culture of inquiry and empower the students to take responsibility for their own learning such as TBL, group discussions, field visits, articles reading and group assignments or projects in which the students can engage in self-reflection on critical issues. Integrating research into teaching and learning is on top of my priorities to promote inter-disciplinarily, creativity and innovation among students. This will allow motivated students to experience the work of scientists through participating in analyzing, applying, discovering and validating knowledge. It also prepares students to be life-long learners and keeps them abreast of advances in science and technology. By adopting these learning/teaching techniques I hope to foster critical thinking, facilitate the acquisition of life-long learning skills, develop problem-solving strategies and prepare my students to function as highly skilled and competent pharmacist across the scope of practice and in my primary teaching area of pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical technology.
