Chair's Welcome

Greetings from Clinical Sciences Department (CSD), College of Medicine, University of Sharjah.

CSD is the main hub for clinical training in the College of Medicine. The department is responsible for clinical teaching in University Hospital Sharjah, Ministry of Health hospitals, and other affiliated hospitals. Clinical training in years 4 and 5 is mostly hospital-based and covers all aspects of medicine focusing on thorough history taking, complete physical examination skills, practical laboratory tests' interpretation and various management options.

In year 4, our students go through 2-months clerkship rotations in each of the four main branches of medicine: general medicine, general surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics. In year 5 students rotate through most subspecialties of medicine and Surgery. Furthermore, in collaboration with Ministry of Health CSD has formulated a structured internship program.

Despite a busy schedule for clinical years' students, they are encouraged to actively participate in medical research projects and to be fully involved in community service programs.

CSD provides all support to its students with many useful resources to enhance their learning process in a continuous and dynamic fashion.

Major efforts are also taken to create a friendly and a scientific environment for all faculty to attain their goals and progress in their carriers.

I am more than happy and always available for personal contact or by email communications to answer any queries or provide any information about the department or the college.
