Gynecological Skill Laboratory

It is an air conditioned wide hall prepared with sufficient number of chairs and tables. We have over 30 models and manikins that are simulating the actual obstetric and gynecologic patients and lesions. Three of them are highly manufactured with computer attachment to demonstrate the actual Obstetric procedures and maneuvers as normal labor, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, vacuum and forceps delivery. The computer is showing the vitals and CTG as well.

The lab. different Gynecological lesions include pregnant uterus in different gestational ages, small and big uterine myomas, ovarian cyst, cervical polyp in addition to the normal findings models.

Multiple fetuses, placentae , pelvises are available also for the different steps of learning.

The commonly used gynecological and obstetrical instruments are present to be explained to the students in details regarding the name, types, use, contraindications and complications and how to deal with.

The students are attending there case based discussions (CBD) and clinical lab. sessions with the lecturers and instructors in this lab. And are encouraged to see, examine and do the various maneuvers themselves simulating the actual patients. They are doing also the routine gynecological clinic procedures as gynecological examination, Pap smear, forceps and vacuum application with the instructor guidance.

Kits for surgical procedures as episiotomy and its repair are available for the students to get these surgical skills.

The clinical lab. also equipped with board, data show projector, computer for the presentations that can be in power point and/or videos.

The lab is supplied with a group of text books and illustrative atlases in the field that can be read by the students in place or barrowed home.
