College of Medicine has collaborated with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services to encourage the visits of graduate students and their working cadres for the purposes of training, exchange of experiences, lectures, conducting joint research, or participating in conferences held by them, or otherwise, in a way that contributes to developing the competence of their working cadres. During the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination effort by Ministry of Health, many of College of Medicine students took active part in COVID related activities. Students played a critical role in PCR testing and COVID Vaccination in Expo Center Sharjah and Mughaidar Health Center. Medical students are given an opportunity to practice administering injections with retractable needles and charting patient information in Ministry of Health system. Mobile Clinic
The Medical Mobile Clinic is a health promoting activity initiated by the College of Medicine in collaboration with the Social Services Department, Sharjah Municipality, and Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
The Mobile Clinic's top priority is to make our community a better place and provide resources for our patients. It has worked closely in neighborhoods and social service organizations in organizing common preventive activities to address the needs of vulnerable populations i.e. people with special needs, those living with chronic and disabling disease states, elderly people, maternal and child health as well as socio-economically disadvantaged groups. College of Medicine has collaborated with Al Muhaisnah Health center, Dubai to educate undergraduates to identify health care needs, barriers to care, and promote the health of the communities they will serve and to identify the main concepts, principles, components and strategies of community health. College of Medicine has collaborated with Preventive Medicine center, Sharjah to appreciate the role of community health in clinical medical practice and to apply the principles of community health assessment (community diagnosis) on population groups or families.
The Blue Day - (World Diabetes Day / World Prostate Cancer Day)
Students have organized and participated in various activities from presentations to posters, ending with the walkathon to raise awareness about Diabetes and Prostate Cancer.
Under the guidance of Dr. Khuloud Bajbouj, member of the Pink Caravan Campaign, students from Years 1 and 2 participated in the campaign from 26th February to 4th March 2020. They assisted clinics in offering examinations for early detection of breast cancer. The campaign traverses the seven emirates, aiming to deliver educational sessions and lectures about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. It is joined annually by equine riders bringing together schools, universities, corporations, and Pink Caravan ambassadors all over the country.
