The mandate of the center
  • Developing faculty competencies in all aspects related to their new roles in a transforming new health profession educational college.
  • Develop and disseminate instructional materials and study guidelines related to innovative teaching and learning in the new era.
  • Introduce, develop and evaluate learning technology, i.e., simulation, e-learning, etc.
  • Educational Planning, Curriculum development and program evaluation with emphasis on Interprofessional Education, Patient Safety, Ethics and Professionalism, and Social Accountability.
  • Promote social accountability and interprofessional education among the medical and health sciences colleges.
  • Promote scholar activities in health professions education.

Functions of the center
The center will act to maintain the leadership position for the University of Sharjah in health professions education in the region and beyond by executing all the functions related to:
  • Promote inter-collegial collaboration between Medical and Health Colleges to support teaching and learning
  • Support cost-effective educational and curriculum development innovation.
  • Improve Student's Learning and Assessment.
  • Investing in Faculty Development to ensure capacity building of educators
  • Provide one-to-one consultation and support for faculty members to enhance teacher's roles
  • Maintain Quality Assurance process to Prepare the colleges for national accreditation and the international recognition
  • Promote Social Accountability and Interprofessional education of the health professions colleges at the University of Sharjah.
  • Foster Research in health professions education to improve teaching and learning, educational environment, curriculum development, assessment, and medical informatics.
  • Enhance the impact of the health professions colleges at the University of Sharjah on the health system and other similar colleges nationally and beyond.
