    Overview

    The Meteorite Detection Model Using UAVs is an innovative solution developed at SAIL to enhance the efficiency of meteorite hunting in challenging terrains. The system uses Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) equipped with advanced AI models, specifically trained to detect meteorites from aerial imagery. Given the extreme heat conditions in the UAE, the use of UAVs significantly reduces human effort and risk in meteorite retrieval operations.

    Key Features​

    AI-Powered Detection : The system uses AI models, including several versions of YOLO (You Only Look Once), a state-of-the-art object detection algorithm, to identify meteorites from UAV-captured images with high accuracy.

    UAV Integration :The drones are equipped with onboard processors and compatible cameras, enabling them to cover large areas of desert efficiently, without exposing researchers to extreme heat.

    Real-Time Processing UAVs process the images onboard, allowing for real-time detection and marking of meteorite locations, ensuring quicker identification and retrieval.
