The fast growing and changing economy of UAE and the region leads to rapid expansion of industries and infrastructures that emphasize on achieving competitive advantage and sustainable business outcomes that rely on good economy without compromising safety, environmental and social issues. This creates the need for implementing innovative and sustainable methods that consider the various phases of the life cycle of engineering assets. We aim to continuously improve and optimize engineering assets efficiency and effectiveness under safety, environmental, and other operational constraints, with minimum life cycle cost. Therefore, this research group aims to contribute to the development of research and higher education in the area of innovative and sustainable design and development, operation, maintenance, and sustainable management of engineering assets. Furthermore, it aims to offer professional training, consultancy and services related to engineering assets that address the needs of regional industry and service organizations. The group’s research is an interdisciplinary one, where researchers from different disciplines including industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and applied statistics pool their knowledge and expertise to solve engineering assets problems. This research group is the first research group at the University of Sharjah and in the region that aims to conduct multi-disciplinary research addressing various interrelated aspects of sustainable asset management.
