A press release from Lund University, Sweden, highlighting a study that has been conducted at University of Sharjah
The study is a collaboration between the University of Sharjah (Dr. Jalal
Taneera, College of medicine) and Lund University (Dr. Albert Salehi)
showed that activation of GPR183 receptor by a specific metabolite (7α,
25-dihydroxy cholesterol), which form in the liver leads to increased insulin
release. That means that if you have high cholesterol then this specific
metabolite is produced and the consequence is an increased insulin
release, which leads to hunger, and if you eat more then you gain weight.
The finding may also have another important significance as the production
of insulin is also linked to increased hunger and obesity.
