Assessment, and students' associated knowledge, skills and attributes, are increasing recognized as the foundation of student learning in higher education. This session will focus on feedback, a topic that has attracted much research interest in recent years but that remains a "troublesome" issue, both in terms of apparent learning gain and student satisfaction. Through a series of guided activities, this workshop will consider how effective feedback from tutors can be characterized and the advantages and drawbacks of synthesizing and returning feedback through electronic means.
