UoS Researchers and Specialists Participate in 9th Sehati Conference

Within the framework of the University of Sharjah's (UoS) keenness to build strategic partnerships that contribute to serving and developing the local community, the University hosted the activities of the 9th Sehati (My Health) Conference under the theme “Towards a Healthy Life", organized by the Health Promotion Department (HPD) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in collaboration with UoS. The conference presented various scientific research papers that sheds light on the physical and psychological health to raise awareness on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, with the participation of researchers and specialists from the Medical and Health Sciences Colleges.
 
During his speech, His Excellency, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, asserted that the University's participation in the conference coincides with the UoS's celebration of the silver jubilee, and that the University is keen to build partnership and cooperate with various academic institutions, universities and advanced research institutes in various local, regional and international sectors and disciplines that contribute to serving the society, pointing out that the UoS's Medical Campus with its four specialized colleges, research institutes, academic laboratories, is one of the largest medical campuses in the region that provides professional healthcare and research services by expertise to all segments of the local community. 
 
Prof. Mohamad Alameddine, Dean of College of Health Sciences (CHS), UoS, and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, stressed on the college's keenness to promote the strategic partnership with HPD at the SCFA, and exchange scientific knowledge with the participation of elite faculty members in a series of panel sessions, besides presenting research papers that serve the local community.
 
During the conference, a number of researchers and specialists from the UoS's College of Health Sciences have participated in the panel sessions, in which Dr. MoezAlIslam Ezzat Faris, Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, presented a scientific study on “Evaluation of total caffeine intake among school children in the United Arab Emirates and its affect on sleep, physical and mental health", while Dr. Farah Naja, Associate Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, presented  a scientific study entitled “Healthy Dietary Patterns: are they also sustainable?" to emphasize the effectiveness of the Mediterranean Diet in preventing various common diseases and protecting the environment. Whereas, Prof. Ibrahim Moustafa, Professor and Chair of Physiotherapy Department, discussed a series of scientific studies conducted on the deformation of the human body.
 
For her part, Dr. Leila Cheikh Ismail, Associate Professor, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Department, presented a research paper entitled "Assessment of Dietary and Lifestyle Responses after COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in Selected Arab Countries", while Prof. Wegdan Bani Issa,  Assistant professor, Department of Nursing, discussed her research paper under the title “Promoting Mental Health in the Workplace", aiming to address causes of stress for employees and ways to deal with daily pressure to achieve work-life balance.
