Signed Over a Video Conference Call A Joint Cooperation Agreement between the University of Sharjah and Huawei

With the aim of strengthening joint cooperation between the University of Sharjah and Huawei, the leading company in providing communications and information technology solutions in the world, the University signed a cooperation agreement with Huawei in the area of transferring modern and advanced technologies in the fields of communications and informatics during a joint meeting via video conference. His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, signed the agreement from its headquarters along with Huawei UAE CEO Mr. Li Shi, and in the presence of Dr. Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor of the University for Community Affairs and a number of officials from both parties.

During the signing of the agreement, the University Chancellor welcomed the CEO and members of Huawei, and expressed his happiness at signing the agreement and cooperating with the company in the field of communications and information technology. The Chancellor then gave a brief about the scientific programs offered by the University, the number of students, graduates, and cultural diversity that characterized it, and reaffirmed the interest of the University on cooperating with prestigious scientific institutions and technology companies around the world in order to serve and develop the community. He finally added that the agreement will open the way for cooperation in many fields in the future between the University of Sharjah and Huawei.

Mr. Li Shi, CEO of Huawei UAE, said: "Young people are a nation's future and hope, and having a strong grasp of emerging technologies will be pivotal to nations' long-term development agendas. Working with institutions like the University of Sharjah, we are committed to developing local ICT talent, promoting a greater understanding of and interest in the ICT sector, and encouraging future participation in the digital community."

The agreement aims to provide and enhance training and certification programs through the use of the Huawei ICT Academy platform, where Huawei will work to provide and enhance training programs for members of the academic staff of the University, then give them an academic instructor certificate (HCAI), along with the addition of a certification course on the HAINA network as a support course for the University's curriculum, and work to promote it in the field of information and communication technology in the United Arab Emirates. The agreement also aims to transfer knowledge to University students to motivate them to be creative and innovative by taking advantage of the developments of the information technology and communications industry, as well as support activities and conferences of common interest.
