His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received a delegation from Xi'an International Studies University led by its Chancellor Wang Junzhe along with a number of College Deans and in the attendance of the University of Sharjah's Vice Chancellors, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, and the Director of the Office of International Relations.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Chancellor welcomed the visiting delegation and praised the existing cooperation between the two universities, especially in the field of teaching Arabic to Chinese students. This is within the framework of the joint cooperation agreement, according to which the University of Sharjah receives a large number of Chinese students to study the Arabic language. The University of Sharjah also sends some members of its teaching staff to teach Arabic at the Chinese University. He added that the University of Sharjah always welcomes Chinese students and provides all its capabilities and facilities in order to integrate them with fellow University students.
For his part, Mr. Wang Junzhe commended the cooperation of the University of Sharjah with Xi'an University, which he confirmed was welcomed and appreciated by the Chinese Ministry of Higher Education and has become an example for different Chinese universities because it contributes to preparing a new generation of Chinese students who are fluent in the Arabic language and are a link of communication between the Arab and Chinese cultures. He stressed that Xi'an University in China welcomed the provision of a number of scholarships for students of the University of Sharjah wishing to study the Chinese language.
The meeting also discussed the extent of the possibility of developing this cooperation between the two universities through the reception of the University of Sharjah for a number of Chinese students studying at Xi'an University to study the Arabic language within the curriculum of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, for a full academic year and that period is counted as a complementary academic year for their studies Undergraduate.
