The University of Sharjah Hosts the Introductory Meeting of the Sultan Al Qasimi Emiratization Initiative in the Private Education Sector "A Teacher and Proud"

The Sharjah Private Education Authority organized an introductory meeting for the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, for Emiratization in the private sector: "A Teacher and Proud." The Initiative aims at the appointment of graduates of Arabic and Islamic studies majors as teachers of Islamic education and Arabic language materials in private schools.

Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), attended the meeting along with Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadem, Head of the Directorate of Human Resources; Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; Ali Al-Hosani, Director of the Sharjah Private Education Authority; Abdullah Al-Mashwi, Director of the Human Resources Department in Sharjah; Dr. Bushra Al-Akayishi, Head of the Department of Education at the University of Sharjah; a number of faculty members of the University's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and a number of graduates of Islamic studies and the Arabic language who were targeted by the Initiative in its first phase.

The Authority announced during the meeting that 45 male and female teachers of Islamic education and the Arabic language will be selected for appointment to private schools in Sharjah City after a series of interviews, whereby the appointment procedures will be initiated after submitting the official papers and documents on the fifth of next January. The chosen batch of study will join the Professional Diploma Program in Teaching, which was designed according to the highest educational standards provided by the University of Sharjah on the 19th of the same month and will last for a whole year in both its scientific and practical aspects. This with the aim of preparing educational cadres qualified scientifically and professionally and specialized in the teaching process at the local, regional and international levels.

Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi commended at the beginning of the meeting the success of a selection of the nation's children and their choice to be change makers in the educational field in the Emirate of Sharjah. She added that they are preparing a promising future with Emirati arms, the future that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, awaits and blesses.

She added that the Initiative came with generous instructions from His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in the interest of His Highness to attract bright minds and young talents to the education sector and secure a distinguished future for teachers and support them to be the builders of tomorrow and the makers of change.

She affirmed that the "A Teacher and Proud" initiative was launched from His Highness's Emiratization project in the private sector and the fruitful cooperation between the Authority, the University of Sharjah and the Human Resources Department painted the fine details of the program, confirming their belief in the educational staff and its ability to achieve the precious and high ambition of His Highness.

She stated that the batch that will be appointed was chosen with great care and after special interviews, while their vocational qualification journey will begin as teachers who were trained according to the finest educational standards provided by the University of Sharjah. She noted that they receive training during the academic year at the hands of experts, and she concluded her speech on the need to take advantage of this opportunity that His Highness gave to be an example of a proud citizen, his profession, his specialty, and raise the name of the Emirate of Sharjah.

For his part, Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, Head of the Directorate of Human Resources, said that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, pays attention to his sons and daughters since the beginning of their first steps in life, following with their upbringing ensuring bright future by providing all available means. He indicated that this is evident through the availability of elite male and female teachers who have been chosen to carry the flame of knowledge for future generations, and said that this job opportunity is considered the first of its kind in the UAE and that they should seize it and prove that they deserve opportunity through their hard work, diligence, dedication and sincerity, so that they are a source of pride.

Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, expressed his thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah, for his constant attention and care in all aspects of progress and development in the fields of general education as well as private education and at all levels.

He stressed the University of Sharjah's keenness to impactful results that help achieve the goals and aspirations of the vision of His Highness, by recruiting all energies and competencies to provide and achieve this lofty aspiration, believing that academic and professional qualification of the education process is the basis for success and development and access to educational outcomes and outputs that support the educational process in schools and works to raise the competencies and capabilities of those in charge in all fields.

He explained that the University is represented by the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences - Department of Education, which has taken upon itself to take this blessed responsibility to invest this opportunity in presenting a special program during which they get the latest knowledge and sciences to advance the educational methods according to the standards and objectives that the University of Sharjah aspires to achieve in this field with continuous cooperation with the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and with all relevant parties, with advanced guidance and ideas that are compatible with the development of education at the global level and the highest conditions and standards adopted in this field.

He concluded stating that the University is looking forward with great enthusiasm that the outputs of this program are the true mirror of the aspirations of the University of Sharjah in supplying schools in the country with distinguished Emirati competencies in the field of school education to work as teachers of Arabic language and Islamic studies in Sharjah private schools in accordance with the highest standards and the latest methods and best competencies to achieve and translate the objective of the Initiative of His Highness.

The meeting included a panel discussion that addressed the goals of the "A Teacher and Proud" initiative, which aims to prepare and qualify distinguished Emirati citizens as teacher for Arabic and Islamic subjects, provide appropriate job opportunities for male and female citizens as teachers in the private education sector, achieve sustainability in the private education sector by preparing and employing Emirati competencies, and encouraging schools interest in the Arabic language and Islamic studies and teaching them with Emirati competencies.

It also discussed the duration of the Professional Diploma in Teaching, which is a full academic year, and the number of 24-hour credit hours distributed over two semesters, the first semester at 15 compulsory credit hours, and the second semester at 9 credit hours, which are 3 credit hours elective and 6 practical training hours in schools. The summer semester students learn the basics of the English language, the practical part, and training in highly-rated and distinguished schools.

Abdullah Al-Mashwi stated that the hiring process of constellation of 45 male and female teachers will be completed following the program and they will be appointed and treated as any employee of the Sharjah Government.
