Stemming from the goal of linking the educational process and practical reality, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Sharjah organized an educational trip for a group of its students to visit the Pharmacy Department at Cleveland Hospital in Abu Dhabi. This in order to learn about the pharmaceutical services provided by Cleveland Hospital to patients, and the most important tasks provided by workers in this sector, due to the significant role that the pharmaceutical sector plays in providing medical care to patients by providing the appropriate medicine and preventing the side effects associated with the drug.
During the visit, Dr. Osama Tabbara, Director of the Pharmacy Department at Cleveland Hospital, gave a lecture on pharmaceutical practices, how to deal with patients, and the importance of effective communication with patients. A number of graduate pharmacists from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Sharjah and those currently working at Cleveland Hospital shared the importance of linking education to practical practice and praised the high level of pharmaceutical education they received at the University of Sharjah and its current impact on their work. Then the students, through a tour inside the Pharmacy Department, reviewed the most important tasks and services provided by the external pharmacy and patients' pharmacy residing in the hospital, and how to give drug-use advice and attention to patients from the time of their admission to the hospital until the time of discharge and continuous follow-up thereafter. The students also reviewed the latest modern technologies in dispensing the drug and preventing errors during the drug dispensing process.
