The Sharjah Sports Council in collaboration with the University of Sharjah launched the fourth edition of the Professional Diploma in Sports Management program during a press conference held on Wednesday October 9th, 2019 at the University. This program is one of the leading initiatives aiming to prepare athletic national cadres that serve the comprehensive and expansive development in the sports sector. His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council, attended the conference along with His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; Prof. Elsiddig Ahmed ElMustafa El Sheikh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Prof. Radhi Al Zubaidi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development; and Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud, Academic Director of the Professional Diploma in Sports Management program, as well as a number of the Council's Directors and students in the program.
This program represents one of the initiatives agreed upon in the cooperation agreement between both entities that aims to offer a number of joint initiatives and activities. 30 participants enrolled in this program from over 18 organizations and sports clubs in Sharjah.
On this occasion, Sheikh Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, noted that the program is of particular importance because it represents to the Council's mission of building bridges of communication and partnership with various institutions following the vision and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, as well as and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and President of the Sharjah Executive Council; and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salim Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The Chancellor of the University for his part stressed that the launch of this program is the result of continuous and effective cooperation in many professional programs and sporting activities with the Sharjah Sports Council following the vision of H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah of focusing on aspects of serving and developing the community by offering academic and professional programs to prepare national cadres specialized in all areas that meet the need of the labor market.
For his part, H.E. Issa Hilal Al Hazami stressed that the program includes 150 hours delivered by a number of academic professors specialized in Sports Management as well as experts and sports figures and encompasses a number of learning objectives, including: sports regulations and laws; scientific basics of sports management; sports planning; modern methods of sports management; competitive psychology; sports media, and sports theories amongst others.
