His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UoS), met with 46 new faculty members who have recently joined the University across various colleges. The introductory orientation meeting was organized by the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education (ILHE), affiliated with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The meeting was attended by the vice chancellors, college deans, directors of centers, and administrative staff. In his opening speech, the Chancellor of the University weclomed the new faculty members and conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, wishing them success in their first academic year at the University. The Chancellor emphasized that the University's priority is to provide world-class education and advised the new faculty members to adopt modern teaching methods that align with students' thinking, create interactive classroom environments to enhance academic performance, increase discussions, equip students with various skills, and provide academic support and guidance. He concluded by affirming that the University operates as one family, is open to suggestions, and makes decisions through consultation.
During the meeting, Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, discussed the responsibilities of the new faculty members. Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies and Research, addressed the University's strategy in the field of applied research and publications in scientific journals, as well as the vital role of research in the University's ranking.
Prof. Maher Omar, Director of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education, discussed the role of the institute in supporting faculty members through organizing various activities and training sessions throughout the academic year. Prof. Esam Agamy, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation, addressed the general framework of academic accreditations according to national laws and international organizations. Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, highlighted the facilities and resources provided by the University to ensure a successful and exemplary student experience.Several University professors and administrative directors discussed the University's strategy, how to prepare for the first day of the academic term, adopting modern teaching methods, internal regulations, and University facilities such as central laboratories and libraries.
