The University of Sharjah (UoS) is committed to expanding its academic offerings in the field of architecture with the recent launch of the Master of Science in Architecture (MScArch) program, which aims to prepare leading experts who will engage advanced theoretical knowledge and technological matters in the study, critique, analysis, and design of the built environment. Additionally, the program will develop students' skills needed to research different aspects of the built environment.
Prof. Abdul Wahab Bin Mohammad, Dean of the College of Engineering , emphasized that the college is working on launching new academic programs to keep pace with the evolving needs and requirements of the labor market. These programs are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required in various engineering fields. Prof. Abdul Wahab highlighted that the new programs focus on research methods in architecture and urban studies, advanced architectural studies, building information modeling in design, construction, and operation, as well as other areas related to the use of AI in architecture. Prof. Abdul Wahab also emphasized that the University of Sharjah provides advanced tools and equipment to support the teaching and learning process, including easy access to library services, scientific laboratories, and classrooms equipped with the latest technology.
Prof. Emad Mushtaha, Chair of the Department of Architectural Engineering, pointed out that the MScArch program equips students with the skills to evaluate buildings and urban fabric according to relevant regulations and codes and propose solutions for architectural and urban projects in line with economic, social, and environmental standards. Students will also work on virtual models of projects using performance simulations through advanced programs, applications, and technologies. Prof. Emad emphasized that the program prepares students to work in various government institutions such as municipalities and urban planning departments, private companies in urban and architectural consultancy, and other research domains.
