With the aim of educating the local community across diverse fields of space science and astronomy, enriching their skills and knowledge, the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) at the University of Sharjah (UoS), organized a lecture on “Canopus”, presented by Prof. Mashhoor Al-Wardat, Professor of Astrophysics, UoS , and Director of Academic Affairs, SAASST
The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) at the University of Sharjah (UoS), organized a three-day workshop titled “Martian Robotic Rover 2.0”, delivered by the Planetarium and Outreach Department team.
The CubeSat team at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) at the University of Sharjah (UoS), has completed the construction of the Academy’s latest scientific instrument, the 4.5 meters S-Band Ground Station, an essential asset to the Academy which allows higher data transfer and download of high-resolution images from the Sharjah-Sat CubeSat Series.
In line with its keenness to keep pace with the latest advances in science and technology, a delegation from the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) of the University of Sharjah (UoS), participated at the prestigious European Astronomical Society (EAS) Annual Meeting 2023 conference in Kraków, Poland.
With the aim of promoting and strengthening sustainable cooperation, the University of Sharjah signed a memorandum of understanding with the global, research, pharmaceutical company "AbbVie”, signed on behalf of the University of Sharjah by its Chancellor, His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, and on behalf of the company, His Excellency Hassan Sabbah, General Manager of AbbVie in the Gulf and Levent region.
The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST) of the University of Sharjah (UoS) organized a specialized CubeSat workshop under the theme “Electric Power System,” delivered by the CubeSat Laboratory Engineers at SAASST. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the College of Engineering at the University of Sharjah (UoS), in collaboration with Carleton University, Canada, organized a mini symposium entitled "Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for Traffic and Safety Analysis”. This symposium showcased cutting-edge advancements and innovative applications of UAVs in the realm of traffic safety.
According to the latest ranking results announced by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023, the University of Sharjah (UoS) advanced to rank as the 45th best university in Asia and 43rd in the ranking of young universities worldwide.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and Founder of the University of Sharjah opened, on Wednesday, the newly developed, and modernised Sharjah Planetarium at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST), in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah.
The University of Sharjah (UoS) is keen to enhance its global position and exchange research and scientific experiences with experts and specialists through various agreements, international cooperation and memorandums of understanding which are signed with international universities and academic institutions from all around the world. In this context, the UoS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL), during a video conference.
