Qanat Al Qasba - Sharjah
Al Qasba is manmade
canal linking Khaled and Mamzar Lagoons together. It has evolved as a perfect
community location for residents and tourists, featuring:
- a 300-seat
theatre
- 60m-high rotating cabins (Eye of the Emirates)
- unique architectural taste
- a number of multi-national restaurants and outlets serving Arabic, Persian,
Italian, Moroccan and Portuguese cuisines.
It has grown to be a
focal point of culture-based entertainment in Sharjah, inviting the world to
experience the Arab heritage at its finest.
Sharjah Desert Park
Opened in 1995,
Sharjah Desert Park gained immediate popularity because of its unique way in
exhibiting local habitats, plant and animal life, geology and marine life.
It includes the
Natural History museum, the Children's farm, the Arabian Wildlife Centre and an
off-limits Breeding Centre for Endangered Arabian Animals.
Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club
Located in the suburbs
(next to the University City), this place is an easy-to-reach getaway for those
who want to escape the city life and work out.
It provides first class
facilities for Golf, Clay Pigeon, rifle, and Pistol shooting. It is also
complimented by the Sensi restaurant, a fully equipped gymnasium, hairdresser,

The Heritage and Arts Area
On the opposite side
of Burj Avenue is the Heritage area, devoted to local markets, meeting places
and small museums.
The Arts area is

The University City
A beautiful
educational complex lies in the southern district of the city. It consists of
four universities:

- the American University of Sharjah
- the Higher Colleges of Technologies (women / men), and
- Sharjah College for Police Sciences
It also features the
glamorous University City hall (which is mainly used for commencement
ceremonies and conferences), and Sharjah Public Library (which is the biggest
library in Sharjah
