Admission Process


Admission Requirements

All applicants must satisfy the following basic admission requirements:
  1. Completion of secondary education or an equivalent level with the required average no earlier than three years prior to joining the University. Applicants to the College of Medicine and Dental Medicine need to have finished their secondary education no more than one year previously.
  2. The applicant should not have been expelled from the UoS or any other institution for academic or disciplinary reasons.
  3. The applicant should be medically, physically and mentally fit to be admitted to the university in accordance with the desired major.
  4. Applicants should indicate their order of preference for majors on the application form. 
  5. Applicants are accepted in different majors according to the student’s preference and her/his grade average and depending on the capacity of each college.
  6. Applicants should complete and submit the application form and required documents to the Admissions Department by the stated deadlines and pay the application fee of AED 360.
  7. Meeting the secondary education grade requirements as well as other admission requirements, and submitting the application, paying the application fees & receiving an ID number does not in any way mean that an applicant is admitted to the University. Students are required to pay a reservation fee after meeting specific criteria on a competitive basis, in accordance with University policy. Student reservation fees are nonrefundable if the student withdraws or does not enroll in the University, and are applied toward tuition fees if the student enrolls in his/her program. 
  8. Applicants to the Colleges of Medicine and Dental Medicine pay a 1500 AED fee for their applications to be considered as part of the admissions competitive process. This fee is non-refundable if the applicant is rejected or withdrew from the university.
  9. The applicant who are still in their seats will receive conditional admission until the final results are submitted, and fulfill the requirements based on competitive criteria.
  10. A student will not be issued an ID or allowed to register in courses unless the admission file is complete.
  11. Students accepted conditionally will be given a specific period of time according to the related undertaking, and they must fulfill the conditional admission requirements to continue studying at the university.

  • A student applying to join the UoS must have completed her/his secondary education and have had at least 12 years of schooling prior to the date of application.
  • The applicant should have graduated from a school licensed and recognized by the Ministry of Education in the UAE, and must submit a certified copy of the secondary school certificates or its equivalent, with a grade script certified by the school and the Ministry of Education or the Education Zone in the UAE.
  • An applicant who attended school outside the UAE should be a graduate of a school recognized by the official education authority in the country of study.
    Certificates submitted must be authenticated by the Education Authority in the country of study, such as the Ministry of Education, Boards of Education, or the British Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country, then the relevant Embassy of the United Arab Emirates or the Embassy of the Country in the UAE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

 

Further to fulfilling the University admissions prerequisites, acceptance in college of Medicine and Dental Medicine are required the following :

A. The Criteria for entering the Competition of the Medicine and Dental Medicine Colleges:
  • All students applying to the Medicine and Dental Medicine Colleges will be subject to further selection criteria based on academic competition amongst applicants depending on the regulations of the University.
  • Students have to pay 1500 AED to enter the competition process. This amount is non-refundable in any case: (acceptance, non-acceptance, withdrawal, or non-attendance.,). In case of acceptance, the fee is considered a first installment of tuition fees.
B. Confirmation of admission for Medicine and Dental Medicine Colleges:
  • All new students accepted in Medicine and Dental Medicine Colleges should pay the tuition fees within a maximum period of one week after the announcement of their acceptance.
  • Students who do not enroll for the semester in which they were admitted will be denied admission to the University and will not receive a refund of any fees paid.
C. Minimum requirements for promotion to the first year of the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery or Bachelor of Dental Surgery:
In order for a student of these programs to be promoted to Year one she/he must:
  • Successfully complete the Foundation Year.
  • Attain a minimum cumulative GPA of (2.5) out of (4.0).
  • Attain a minimum cumulative GPA of (2.5) in Chemistry and Biology and their respective labs in the first and second levels.
  • Students who successfully score the above GPA are subjected to competition for seats available in these Colleges, and the students with higher CGPA and higher GPA in Chemistry 1& 2 and Biology 1& 2 and their labs will be promoted to year one.

  1. Students shall fill in the application form personally, and be responsible for the accuracy of the information filled therein. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  2. Students are responsible for completing all admission procedures by the specified deadlines, in accordance with the instructions of the Admissions Office as announced in the academic calendar. The University is not responsible for applications not completed by students on time. All students are required to visit the University’s website (www.sharjah.ac.ae) to learn about the dates and locations of the admission exams, TOEFL test, and personal interviews as well as to see their results.
  3. Reservation seat fees are nonrefundable if the student withdraws or does not enroll in the University, and are applied toward tuition fees if the student enrolls in his/her program.
  4. Admission is granted for the semester to which the student is applying. A student’s admission will be canceled if the student does not enroll in the same semester as when the application has been submitted.
  5. New students are permitted to postpone admission for a maximum of one semester for all programs after paying the required fees and submitting the required form to the Admission Office.
  6. Paragraph (5) applies to all the University programs except for programs in the Colleges of Medicine and Dental Medicine, which do not allow postponement of admission.
  7. The University does not accept the submission of the original High School Certificate. Students are required to provide copies certified by the proper authorities.
  8. All documents submitted for admission to the University are considered the property of the University. Students are not permitted to request any documents from their personal file once submitted to a staff member.
  9. The University is not responsible for scholarship applications. Students are required to contact sponsors on their own.
  10. Applications received after the admission period will not be considered.
  11. The University reserves the right to increase the fees every year.
  12. Students Shall Abide by All Other University Requirements.


Required Documents

  1. Copy of student passport (valid).
  2. Copy of UAE National Family Registry for local students.
  3. Copy of residence visa for non-local students (valid).
  4. Certified copy of Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent.
  5. Four recent passport-size colored photographs.
  6. Health Fitness Certificate. The test must be done in university's student clinic or any governmental authority in the UAE. Click here to download the form (Please write the student's name and University ID number and attach a picture on the form).
  7. Copy of Good Conduct Certificate (valid).
  8. Copy of Birth Certificate.
  9. Copy of UAE National Identity Card (valid).
  10. Copy of mother's passport.
  11. AED 360 cash application fees (Non-refundable).
  12. An English Language Proficiency Certificate (TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or EmSAT), (Student must hand the original English Language Proficiency Certificate for Majors that requires it before the course registration period).

  1. Document proving that the student completed 12 years of school.
  2. Certified copy of grades 10,11, 12 certificates and Graduation certificate ( Diploma ).
  3. Equivalent certificate from the Ministry of Education in the UAE.
  4. Students who obtained certificates from outside the UAE must provide a document proving that the High School Certificate is accepted by government universities in the country from which the certificate was obtained, and equivalent certificate from the Ministry of Education in the UAE.

  1. Certified copy of the Diploma certificate.
  2. Certified copy of the transcript.
  3. Students who had received the Diploma from outside the UAE or from private institutes within the country must attain an equivalent certificate for the Diploma from the Ministry of Education in the UAE.

  1. Certified copy of the official transcript after withdrawing from the previous institution.
  2. Detailed course descriptions certified by the previous university.
  3. Students transferring from an institution outside the UAE must also submit a letter of accreditation from the Ministry of Education in the UAE.
  4. A letter clarifies the cumulative GPA and the academic status of the student at his/ her previous university.

National service completion letter or no objection to complete the study from the Authority of National Service and Reserve.

No objection letter from the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait - Cultural Office in UAE specifying the program the student is allowed to take at the University of Sharjah.

Approval letter from student's home university with a list of courses allowed to be taken at the University of Sharjah in the relevant semester.

Students holding certificates issued from outside the UAE have to submit an equivalency certificate (From UAE ministry of education)

  • Certificates issued from inside the country must be authenticated from the educational institution in which the student studied in the country, and the Ministry of Education or the Educational Zoon.
  • Certificates issued from outside the country must be authenticated by the official educational authority in the country of study (such as: the Ministry of Education, Boards of Education, the British Council ...), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy of the United Arab Emirates in the country of study, or the Embassy of the Country in the UAE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

Admission Tests For New Students




1.English Language Proficiency Test

Upon admission to UoS and prior to course registration, all students admitted to UoS (new, transfer and bridging) must demonstrate a level of English proficiency consistent with the requirement of their college. Students can choose one of the alternative exams listed below for proof of proficiency.

The certificate must be submitted through the Admission Online System or Admission Services Portal to be reviewed and approved by the English Language Center at the UoS. Please click here to view the user guide.

Important Notes
  • Certificates older than two years are not accepted.
  • Students who couldn't obtain the required score in any of the above listed English Proficiency tests will be enrolled in an "Intensive English Program" course, in which their English level will be determined by the result of their English proficiency test. All students are placed in the Intensive English program with a recognized Language qualification.
  • Students in the Intensive English Program must obtain the required score in one of the above-mentioned tests to enter in the Major directly .
  • Students accepted in the Collegeof Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, or Health Sciences are not allowed to register for the program courses until they obtain a score of "5.0" in each IELTS skill or pass the relevant skill course in the Languages Institute at UoS.
  • Students must submit the original English language proficiency certificate to the Languages Institute at UoS for verification and approval.
  • The UoS reserves the right to require students to attend an interview in the Languages Institute. Students may be required to take a further in-house test to ensure their scores are consistent with their English Language proficiency.


2. Admission Tests for the College of Medicine:
  • Obtain a score of 800 in EmSAT- Math.
  • Obtain a score of 800 in two of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
  • Obtain a score of 1100 in EmSAT- English (with reading and writing skill courses at the University).


3. Admission Tests for the College of Dental Medicine:
  • Obtain a score of 800 in EmSAT- Math.
  • Obtain a score of 800 in two of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
  • Obtain a score of 1100 in EmSAT- English (with reading and writing skill courses at the University).


4. Admission Tests for the College of Pharmacy:
  • Obtain a score of 800 in EmSAT- Math.
  • Obtain a score of 800 in two of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
  • Obtain a score of 1100 in EmSAT- English (with reading and writing skill courses at the University).


5. Admission Tests for Business Programs:
  • Obtain a score of 600 in EmSAT- Math.
  • Obtain a score of 1100 in EmSAT- English (with reading and writing skill courses at the University).


6. Admission Tests for Engineering Programs and College of computing and informatics (Computer Science and Cybersecurity programs):
  • Obtain a score of 800 in EmSAT- Math.
  • Obtain a score of 800 in EmSAT- Physics.
  • Obtain a score of 1100 in EmSAT- English (with reading and writing skill courses at the University).


7. Admission Tests for the College of Law:
  • Obtain a score of 600 in EmSAT- Math.
  • For Law (English) program :Obtain a score of 1110 in EmSAT- English (with reading and writing skill courses at the University).



8. Admission Tests for the College of sciences and College of computing and informatics (EXCEPT Computer Science and Cybersecurity programs) :
  • Obtain a score of 700 in EmSAT- Math.
  • Obtain a score of 700 in one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
  • Obtain a score of 1100 in EmSAT- English (with reading and writing skill courses at the University).

9. Admission Tests for the French Language and literature Program:
  • Students applying to the French Language and Literature Program are required to pass the Diploma of Studies in French Language (DELF) test (A1 level) or pass the placement test at the University.
  • Students who did not pass the placement test can enroll in the Intensive French course at the university, in which they can enroll the Program after completing the Intensive course and passing the placement test.

University of Sharjah announces opening the admission for the Fall Semester 2023/2024:

  • Early Admissions: From May 8th 2023 till Jun 8th 2023.
  • Official Admission for all colleges except College of Medicine and College of Dental Medicine: from Jun 19th 2023 till Aug 17th 2023.
  • Official Admission for Medical colleges (College of Medicine and College of Dental Medicine): from Jun 19th 2023 till Jul 13th 2023.

Please read the following instructions very carefully before filling the online application

Online Application Steps:

  1. Fill out the online application form, upload the required documents, submit the application, and pay the non-refundable application fee. To view the online application guide, click here or watch the following video .
  2. An email will be sent to the applicants confirming their admission status within 3-7 working days.
  3. Apply for the admission tests according to the requirements of the college or program. To view the admission tests, please click here.
  4. Applicants nominated for acceptance need to reserve their seats by paying 12000 AED which is applied toward tuition fees if the student enrolls in the program. If the student withdraws or does not enroll in the University, an amount of 3000 AED will be non-refundable .
  5. Applicants must complete the required documents after paying the seat reservation fee which includes attested copies of high school certificates, colored personal photos, original certificates of English language proficiency tests (e.g.: IELTS, TOEFL, EmSAT... etc), receiving the medical fitness form or any additional documents required from the Admissions Department.   7. Pay the remaining tuition fees - if any - in accordance with the university's financial instructions.
