His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received a delegation from the International Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (IICD) in the UAE headed by Dr. Kamel Al Mu'aini, President of the IICD. The delegation included Dr. Altay Habibullah Yeyev, Chairman of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for the Promotion of Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue in Kazakhstan; Prof. Rubender Shadev, President of IMAGE India; and Ms. Mahbooba Abdul Rahman, Director of the IICD; with the aim of discussing opportunities for joint cooperation with the University of Sharjah. Dr. Salah Taher, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, attended the meeting along with and Dr. Tarek Merabtene Director of the Office of International Relations at the University.
During the meeting, the Chancellor welcomed the visiting delegation, praising the efforts and aspirations of the University of Sharjah in enhancing cooperation with local and international universities, institutes and scientific centers. He stressed that it is one of the largest universities in the country in terms of the number of students, programs offered, research institutes and centers of excellence it houses, and number of branches in the Emirate of Sharjah. This is due to the endless support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah. He added that the university occupies an advanced ranking according to the latest international university rankings at the local and international levels, and that the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology is advancing in line with international developments and national visions in the space sector and astronomical culture.
For his part, Dr. Altay said he was impressed by the academic and research developments of the University of Sharjah and expressed his keen interest in enhancing cooperation with his center in particular and with the scientific institutions in Kazakhstan in general. He praised the University of Sharjah's keen focus on the students and the enhancement of the means of education and the use of modern technology in teaching, focusing on the role of exchange students in strengthening relations between countries and civilizations through their experience.
