The Sharjah Islamic Center for Economy and Finance Studies organized the graduation ceremony for professional diploma and specialty certificate programs 2015-2016. Attendants of the ceremony were Dr. Tariq bin Khadem, Head of HR Department at the Government of Sharjah, Prof. Hamid Al Naimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, Mr. Mohammad Abdalla, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al Mansouri, Director of the Sharjah Islamic Center for Economy and Finance Studies, college deans, UOS faculty members and the graduates.
The Chancellor welcomed the attendants and thanked the faculty and staff members who are engaged in the execution of the different programs offered by the Center which is considered a center of excellence under the umbrella of UOS research activity. The Chancellor said that this center was established upon directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah. The center aimed to be a qualitative addition to peer centers granting diploma at the University. It offers educational and training programs covering the needs for those working in the field of Islamic banking and finance which has become a very important field in the world.
Dr. Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Direct of the Center, presented the most important achievements of the Center during this year. He talked about the diploma programs and specialty certificates of the Center. These include Certified International Islamic Finance Arbitrator, which was offered by the Center in collaboration with the International Islamic Center for Reconciliation and Arbitration "IICRA" in Dubai; and Certified Islamic Banker (CIB), which was offered by the Center in collaboration with the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI). He also presented several academic activities organized by the Center this year such as Islamic Banking Jurisprudence Forum which was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the 1st Edition of the Best Research and Banking Product Award.
Dr. Al Mansouri also talked about the cooperation agreements signed with many leadership institutions in the field of Islamic banking and finance; the professional and training programs and other activities to be delivered next year. These include the 2nd Edition of the Sharjah Islamic Award for Islamic Banking Products, the International Innovation Platform for Islamic Economy Products, the International Forum for Islamic Commercial Arbitration and the 2nd International Forum for Islamic Banking Jurisprudence.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Tariq bin Khadem, Prof. Hamid Al Naimi, Mr. Mohammad Abdalla and Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al Mansouri awarded the faculty members who took part in teaching and training of the Center's professional and specialty programs; graduated the 41 trainees and awarded the winners of the Best Research and Best Islamic Banking Product award.
